Farmstay in America

The summer vacation is almost ending, hubby and I decided bring the kids for a farmstay before the summer comes to an end.

The Green Acres farm is a nice, cosy and warm farm. Stepping into the farm makes you feel so at home. Here, I must tell you that should you decide to bring children for farmstay in America, make sure that the farm is kids-friendly. Not all farmhouses welcome small kids.

The Green Acres is a great place for kids. Kai and Ann enjoyed themselves tremendously because, they love the outdoors. Here, they provide you with a really hearty homecooked breakfast. We had pancakes, baked potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausages, breakfast cakes and watermelon for breakfast.

When we arrived, a note was stuck on the reception door to tell us where our room was situated. Ours was at the attic.

As we moved along, we were made to feel at home...

Of course, we'll feel happy and relax...such a nice place.

The staircase which led to our attic room...

... the attic room. So cosy, so warm, so homely

The bathroom

The window, looking out to the farm

The swing at the veranda

Ann was just overwhelmed by the number of cats and kittens that were running around the farm

Kittens, kittens, everywhere

The playhouse. Everything in there were mini-sized.

Little Ann in her little world.

The kids loved the hammock. This was the first time, they saw a real one.

After checking-in and finishing our farm exploration, we ventured out to discover more....

We came to this place called The country barn market. It was an interesting place filled with lots of animals, mazes and my all time favourite - farm market!

We did the corn maze. Solving the puzzles, finding the clues to get out of the maze were alot of fun.

Papa led the way. "Here we go..."

Kai was holding the flag...each group was given one, in case we got lost....walking deep into the maze

Solving the puzzles, getting the clues...

...up the bridge, down the bridge...

...we made it. The family that stayed together, worked together, get out together!

This was not an Incinerator. It was a storage place...

Kai inside the storage place

More farm fun activities...

...a little of everything. There was even an underground slide.

Cowboy and cowgirl...yee-ha. In case you thought that this was a pony, it was actually a miniature horse...
and the rides were FREE..yee-ha!

Cowboy and cowgirl on a hay-stack.

The kids also did the hay-maze.

The farm had lots of different animals...

Did you get them right? Turkeys, baa baa black sheep, bunnies and a goat...

...and cows. We spotted a billy goat having his meal on his "Top of the M"

Beautiful flowers surround the farm

These are ear pumpkins

The Farm market

After all the farm activities, we were looking for dinner before heading back to the farmhouse for the night and guess what we found? A THAI restaurant!!! It was like we had found the missing needle in the haystack!

A wonderful Thai meal which wrapped up a 'farm-filled' day!

Farmers for a day

The next morning, we woke up early, anyway, that's what farmers do.

The morning sun, beautiful sight

The farmhouse and the barn

This was where we had our hearty homecooked breakfast.

After breakfast, the farmer brought us on a hay-ride.

That was what we sat on for the ride.

A log house

A creek

Guess what's this? No, it's not your peas. It's soy beans in a pod. They will only be ready in Nov.

After the hay-ride, we headed back to the farm and the kids were released into the chicken coop to collect eggs...

Kai found four eggs and Ann found two. All the eggs that were collected on that morning.

Donkeys and a rooster sharing a watermelon

Mother hen and her babies

The rest of the day was very much free and easy. Kai found bicycles in the barn and asked if he could ride on one of them. The farmer said yes and his free spirit was released.

Notice the seats for the swings were made of wood.

As I stood there, capturing this scene, I wished time could stand still. For me to watch my little boy and for my boy to enjoy his ride.
Enjoy my boy, soak it all in my boy. I know you are having the time of your life!

Giving the kitten one final hug before leaving

One final shot...thanks for a very good time.

Sometimes, I wonder if affluency is good for us. Yes, it gives us wealth, it gives us comfort and it gives us modern science and technology which enchance our lives. But what about food for our spirit and soul?

Wow ...I love the way you show us your adventures here in the US.
Thanks for sharing them here.
At the farm, it looked like you were the only family there? And the place is definitely huge LOL

Thank you for reading.

No, actually the farm was full housed.

But we were the earliest to wake up and get out ;)
