How can we do without a road trip?

Holidaying in America is never complete without a road trip. Such a huge country, in order to soak in its beauty, road trips are necessary.

We brought the Lims on their first road trip. We decided to go back to Finger Lakes and then to Niagara Falls once again. The Finger Lakes region is just too big. We didn't cover the whole area in our last road trip, so we decided to do it again, this time, with our friends.

The journey begins...

We stayed 2 nights at one of the most popular hotel chain in America - Best Western.

After about 3 hours on the road, we arrived at Best Western Marshall Manor Horseheads, NY It was a nice cosy motel, situated at the very scenic Watkins Road. They had two big twin beds which were most suitable for our family of four.

We wasted no time, after unloading our bags, we drove another half an hour to The Watkins Glen State Park. It is an awesome place!

Once again, we were embraced by the beauty of God's creations. This place showed us, God as an extremely skillful artist. I personally think that there should be 'eight wonders' of the world. You will know what I mean with these pictures....

At the entrance

At the start of our hike. Yes, you have to walk up to witness its beauty. The higher you go, the more beautiful it becomes

None of the waterfalls is man-made.

In nature, God reveals His love to us. Isn't this amazing? Isn't this breath-taking?

Crossing the bridge...to paradise.

God created all things...big and small. A little crawlie which Kai spotted and little acorns which Ann picked up along the way.

A huge lillie pond. God was right when He said that even the lillies would be well-taken care of.

More waterfalls...

This is the most amazing one. Through water and soil erosion, a big hole was formed just right beside a waterfall. I made this picture big, so that you could marvel at it.

Such a beautiful place...even the words used have to be refined. There are no 'toilets' or 'washrooms'. Even 'restrooms' are not good enough. It has to be called 'comfort station'...

...yes, that's your toilet.

On our way back to the motel, we saw a rainbow. It's like God telling us, there are more things waiting for us to discover.

Looking back, the difficulties we faced and the loneliness we experienced when we first arrived, were just part and parcel of the process of discovering what God has prepared and will be preparing for us.

Hi Honeylemon,

I'm Yaha from KC.

I enjoyed your blog, especially this one on Nigara Falls, reminds me of my trip to Toronto 12 yrs ago. I was on biz trip. I did the Nigara Falls, it was great.

I would love to be back there again, having made so many friends but the long long journey just put me off.

I'm sure you are beginning to enjoy your stay in the US, maybe you will not head home (Singapore) after all.

My classmate went there and decided not to come back because the 2 kids enjoyed schooling there.

Have a good time and enjoy the most in US.

Yaha

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Yes, it has a wonderful time but staying here long term is not on our agenda for now, perhaps, later when we decide to return or retirement ;)
