The final destination

The last place we visited with the Lims was The Dutch Wonderland.

It was a great place for Ann as she could take most of the rides. Kai had his good share of rides at Disney World and Hershey Park. Now, it would be Ann's turn to enjoy herself which also meant that Linus Lim could fully enjoy himself too!

Before arriving at Dutch Wonderland, we brought the Lims to The Kitchen Kettle Village, a unique shopping experience in the heart of the Amish community.

Two Amish teenage boys we met on the road.

Ann with her gingerbread man

Hibiscus flowers, this big! These are not plastic flowers. They are fresh and they are real.

A berry happy family.

Although kiddy, Kai still enjoyed himself cos' papa kept his promise. He promised to bring them there before the summer vacation ends. Since the Lims were with us, we decided to do it together!

What's Kai eating?

Special ice-cream made into tiny little balls. They are called 'Dippin' Dots'

As you can see, Ann was on all the rides.

Even on ride that brings you above ground level, Ann could also take it.

Up, up and away..."hey mum, look at me!"

We finally got to visit this farm

We finally got to visit the Strawberry Acres. The first time we were there, it was closed. We were too early for summer. The second time we came, it was raining and we couldn't do a thing. This was our third visit, we decided to bring the Lims to visit a real farm in Allentown and they were finally opened.

The kids had tons of fun!
Dylan wasn't in

On our way back from the road trip, we decided to pay Dylan a visit since it was going to be on our way home. Unfortunately, he was on a camping trip. But it was a nice ride to his hometown, Covington. Beautiful, quiet little town, 3 hours north from our home.

Along the road, we could see hay being rolled up already.

These rolled up hay are known as bales. Which means, the farmers are already preparing for the winter season. During winter, there won't be any green pastures so the animals would have to depend on these bales to feed them. I could just feel the cold slowly creeping up on us.

Niagara Falls, again?

No quite.

The last road trip, we merely took a peek at it from the Canada side. This time round, we soaked ourselves in it...and it was at the American side.

As usual, I will let the pictures do the talking.

This is the bridge that connects America and Canada. Very similar to our Malaysia/Singapore causeway. It's called 'The Rainbow Bridge'

If you look carefully at one of the pictures above, you would be able to spot a rainbow. As the water gushes down and hit against the rocks below, there are water vapours. On a bright sunny day as the sun shines on the vapours, a rainbow will be formed. Thus, the name, Rainbow bridge. During summer, when the sun is out most of the time, a rainbow will perpetually be formed.

This is a boat ride. Taking the boat - Maid of the Midst, it will bring you very close to the waterfalls. You have to wear a poncho in order to keep yourself dry or should I say, keep yourself not so wet.

Yes, that's the poncho. Notice how close we were to the waterfalls.

This is another interesting thing to do at Niagara Falls (America). You walk up a flight of stairs which brings you right in front of the waterfall and allow the water to splash on you. It's Cave of the Winds. Unfortunately, we didn't have extra clothings with us, otherwise, we would have done it.

I have done two short video clips to let you hear, see, feel and experience God's glory shining through His creation. The second one also allows you to see the people doing the Cave of the Winds tour. Enjoy.

How can we do without a road trip?

Holidaying in America is never complete without a road trip. Such a huge country, in order to soak in its beauty, road trips are necessary.

We brought the Lims on their first road trip. We decided to go back to Finger Lakes and then to Niagara Falls once again. The Finger Lakes region is just too big. We didn't cover the whole area in our last road trip, so we decided to do it again, this time, with our friends.

The journey begins...

We stayed 2 nights at one of the most popular hotel chain in America - Best Western.

After about 3 hours on the road, we arrived at Best Western Marshall Manor Horseheads, NY It was a nice cosy motel, situated at the very scenic Watkins Road. They had two big twin beds which were most suitable for our family of four.

We wasted no time, after unloading our bags, we drove another half an hour to The Watkins Glen State Park. It is an awesome place!

Once again, we were embraced by the beauty of God's creations. This place showed us, God as an extremely skillful artist. I personally think that there should be 'eight wonders' of the world. You will know what I mean with these pictures....

At the entrance

At the start of our hike. Yes, you have to walk up to witness its beauty. The higher you go, the more beautiful it becomes

None of the waterfalls is man-made.

In nature, God reveals His love to us. Isn't this amazing? Isn't this breath-taking?

Crossing the bridge...to paradise.

God created all things...big and small. A little crawlie which Kai spotted and little acorns which Ann picked up along the way.

A huge lillie pond. God was right when He said that even the lillies would be well-taken care of.

More waterfalls...

This is the most amazing one. Through water and soil erosion, a big hole was formed just right beside a waterfall. I made this picture big, so that you could marvel at it.

Such a beautiful place...even the words used have to be refined. There are no 'toilets' or 'washrooms'. Even 'restrooms' are not good enough. It has to be called 'comfort station'...

...yes, that's your toilet.

On our way back to the motel, we saw a rainbow. It's like God telling us, there are more things waiting for us to discover.

Looking back, the difficulties we faced and the loneliness we experienced when we first arrived, were just part and parcel of the process of discovering what God has prepared and will be preparing for us.
